High-Level Meeting, November 2019

On 11 November 2011, prior to the Nairobi Summit on ICPD25, the Ministers of Health of Kenya and Zambia, as champions of the Global HIV Prevention Coalition, chaired a High-Level Meeting on ‘Accelerating Progress Towards the 2020 HIV Prevention Targets – The Promise of Comprehensive HIV Prevention and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for All’.

More than 200 delegates, including ministers and deputy ministers of health from coalition countries and additional countries that are accelerating their prevention responses, the heads of UNAIDS, UNFPA and IPPF, representatives from governments, civil society and communities, UN agencies and development partners attended the event and made bold commitments and pledges to scale up HIV prevention in their respective countries by 2020 and beyond.

UNAIDS launched a third progress report on the implementation of the HIV Prevention 2020 Road Map since the inauguration of the Global HIV Prevention Coalition in October 2017.
