HIV Prevention with AGYW, May 2018
On 8-9 May 2018, the Global HIV Prevention Coalition Secretariat organized a meeting on ‘HIV Prevention with Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW)’ to enable key stakeholders in HIV programmes for AGYW to reach a common understanding of geographical patterns of HIV incidence and the number of AGYW at risk and agree on geographic priorities for HIV prevention programmes and sandard service packages for different epidemiological settings . The meeting demonstrated growing consensus with regards to priority locations for AGYW HIV programming as well as basic platforms and intensified service packages. It also resulted in a better understanding of the role of different partners in supporting key policy and structural actions required for effective HIV prevention and SRHR programmes among AGYW and their partners. Participants made recommendations for strengthened approaches to monitoring and evaluation of HIV prevention among AGYW and proposed steps to strengthen national stakeholder coordination mechanisms.
