IAS 2018 session on Condoms 2.0
Reinvigorating effective condom programming in the era of epidemic control
Convened as a non commercial satellite of the 22nd International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2018), this session was organized by the Global Condom Working Group to look at emerging models of sustainable condom markets across the developing world and ways these models can be replicated. It reminded participants that condoms remain critical to prevent STIs, HIV and pregnancy and highlighted that where condom coverage is high, HIV incidence falls. It discussed the importance of strategic planning for condom programming, continuing demand creation and prioritizing equitable coverage.
