Glans amputations are rare but severe adverse events (AEs) related to forceps-guided male circumcision of clients with immature genitalia (predominately 10- to 14-year-olds). When one of these AEs occurs, swift, appropriate management is of utmost importance. This job aid, which is intended to be posted in the operating theater, was developed to assist with appropriate management immediately following a glans amputation. An appendix of the November 2018 update of the Adverse Event Action Guide for Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision by Surgery or Device: 2nd Edition, it contains the critical steps for the VMMC team to perform to maximize the chances of a positive outcome.
