In this review of data reported from eight countries’ voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) programme, the most common qualifying notifiable adverse event was bleeding resulting in hospitalisation for three or more days. The study, published in Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, also revealed that, in some cases, these events were due to a previously undiagnosed or undisclosed bleeding disorder.
