Make The Cut (MTC) uses the popularity of soccer to educate adolescent boys and young men about the health benefits of voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) and overcome barriers to its uptake, such as fear of pain or HIV testing and lack of accurate information. Created in 2012, it has been tested in randomised trials and implemented in Eswatini, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. This case study is one of 11 on enhancing uptake of VMMC that were selected for inclusion in an annex of the World Health Organization’s 2020 VMMC guidelines.
