This brief for policymakers and programme managers summarises updates made to enhance the prevention component of Iran’s Fourth National Strategic Plan (NSP4) after the country joined the Global HIV Prevention Coalition. It reflects changes in structure (such as dividing oversight of harm reduction between two subcommittees) and programmes (adding a new strategy, ‘pharmacological prevention of HIV transmission’), as well as the addition of two new target populations, transgender groups and populations on the move.
