A P-Values blog from AVAC notes that a study conducted in Tanzania’s Njombe and Tabora regions has confirmed what was known but not adequately documented: that female partners and mothers influence men’s and boy’s decisions about whether to get circumcised. Some women even said they denied their partners sex until the men became circumcised. Programmes can take advantage of this influence by finding ways to meaningfully engage women in scaling up voluntary medical male circumcision services, the blog concludes.
