The endorsement of the Zulu King and collaboration with government initiatives and traditional leadership were key to the success of the USAID VMMC Project’s efforts to increase uptake of voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC). This case study is one of 11 on enhancing uptake of VMMC that were selected for inclusion in an annex of the World Health Organization’s 2020 VMMC guidelines.
