By outlining the continuum of HIV testing, prevention, treatment and care, these guidelines aim to expand access to antiretroviral therapy and optimise treatment. Among the objectives are to provide a standardised guide to offering HIV testing services; provide guidance on HIV prevention strategies including behaviour change communication, elimination of mother-to-child transmission, and safe male circumcision; and provide evidence-based and simplified information on providing antiretrovirals for treatment and prevention.
