Ghana’s updated national policy is guided by four pillars: 1) greater involvement of people living with HIV, 2) alignment with global concepts and frameworks; 3) decentralised multisector and multidisciplinary planning and execution; and 4) partnership and collaboration with public, private, local and international institutions. The policy’s objectives are to: empower the population to prevention new HIV infections; ensure the availability of and accessibility to prevention, treatment, care and support services; mitigate the social and economic effects of HIV; and ensure the availability of adequate funding to execute the policy strategies.
