Researchers conducted a prospective study, involving 402 male adolescents (ages 13 to 17), on the use of the PrePex device to perform voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) at a VMMC centre in Harare, Zimbabwe, from August 2013 to September 2014. The results of the study, designed to help fill the need for data on the safety and efficacy of the device for circumcision of male clients younger than 18, were published in a special supplement of the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes about studies on the introduction of the ShangRing and PrePex devices.
