Mexico’s domestic financing and implementation strategy for HIV and hepatitis prevention and treatment case study highlights a “triple optimization” strategy that was implemented in three stages: clinical, public health and economic to ensure evidence-based selection of options and advocacy. This resulted into, the introduction of two anti-retroviral treatment options for People Living with HIV in Mexico – including – children but also saving more than 1.6 billion Mexican Pesos invested in the combination HIV prevention strategy in 2019.
